Corrie Haffly over at Site Point has written a wonderful yet lengthy tutorial on how to use Photoshop to dominate web graphics. She covers topics such as resizing and rotating documents and layers, working with masks, creating curves and custom shapes, working with transparent images, and lots more.

If your using Photoshop but not for the web this may be a good place to start.
