Meeting: Monday February 4th 7PM at LYIT Canteen

Our next meeting will be on January 4th at the LYIT Canteen at 7PM.

Our meetings usually last an hour long and are very casual so come and have some fun.

Any level of Adobe users is welcome and attendance is free. Bring a friend with you, we should have plenty of room.

We will have demonstrations of the latest Adobe technology in the wild, news and updates from Adobe and a free prize give-away. We also need to vote on our next book selection.

Good news everyone, we finally have a more appropriate place to meet. The design department at LYIT have agreed to let us use one of their computer labs. This means that we will be able to do more presentations with the use of their equipment allowing members to get a more hands on experience.

As the meeting is during lunch we are expecting to draw more of the students and staff, however parking at LYIT is challenging so be aware.

The mac computer labs are on the 2nd floor above the main entrance of the college, any questions phone or email Christian on 0872789570, chris@mmug-ireland.org.

MEETING: September Meeting at Silver Tassie, September 24th at 7:30 pm

We will be meeting at the Silver Tassie again until we can find another place with better facilities. Our next meeting will take place on Monday September 24th 2007 at 7:30 PM in the Lobby area of the Silver Tassie.

I am very close to getting space at LYIT where we could even have access to a computer lab. This would be a huge benefit to the group as we do have access to some amazing online seminars and could even do some live seminars via the web from a list of amazing designers and developers all over the world. I will keep you all posted as to any new developments.

Adobe Flash Player 9 Beta Update

For those of you who are interesting in playing around with the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player version 9, today there is now an update.

This new version is only a beta and bound to bit a bit buggy but with it comes a whole lot of new features. One of the most talked about new features is the fact that it will now support a much wider range of video options including the ever popular H.264. You may be asking yourself what does this mean? To put it in a nutshell it basically means that flash video is going to get a lot better. With sites like YouTube and Google Video all using flash as their means of playing videos this only makes sense. Here is a great article written by one of Adobe’s Flash developers.

Adobe: CS3 is out.

Adobe has announced the release of the new CS3 suite of software. I have been looking over the details and I have to say I am very impressed. With this being the very first launch since the merge of Macromedia and Adobe it was bound to be an interesting event. What was lost? What is new?
