Well another month has gone by and time for us to meet up again. A lot has happened since our last meeting and we will have a lot to talk about.

Since our last meeting I have attended two Adobe conferences and talked to 5 Adobe Evangelists about the future of their products and many other topics.

This month we also have a guest speaker. We hope to make this a permanent part of our monthly meetings as well.

Mike Baker of Aileach Design

Mike owns Aileach Design [http://www.aileach.com/] and his company provides consultancy and innovative web solutions, specialising in design and development of rich internet applications, web design and mobile applications. Their products and solutions are are tailored to fit any size business requirements, including full backend and database support. Technologies used include ColdFusion, Flex, JAVA, Flash and Adobe AIR.
Mike will be discussing his history with Flex and the Adobe Development team and show us how he his company is using Flex and AIR.

MEETING: September Meeting at Silver Tassie, September 24th at 7:30 pm

We will be meeting at the Silver Tassie again until we can find another place with better facilities. Our next meeting will take place on Monday September 24th 2007 at 7:30 PM in the Lobby area of the Silver Tassie.

I am very close to getting space at LYIT where we could even have access to a computer lab. This would be a huge benefit to the group as we do have access to some amazing online seminars and could even do some live seminars via the web from a list of amazing designers and developers all over the world. I will keep you all posted as to any new developments.

MEETING: August Meeting at Silver Tassie, August 20th at 7:30 pm

It’s been a while since our last meeting and that’s mostly my fault and I am sorry. I have been quite busy the last few months. Things have started to level out now and I have more free time.

Our next meeting date and location has been confirmed. We will meet in the bar of the Sliver Tassie (because they have free WIFI) at 7:30PM on Monday August 20th.

We will discuss all the benefits available to our group and group members including our free monthly book selection. Up till now I have been picking books that I think members would get the most benefit from.

We will also be eligible for two free copies of Adobe CS3 a year very soon and we need to discuss what to do with our copies.

I hope to see you all there and look forward to our next meeting.

UPDATE: Meeting News

Ok so things have not taken off like I had expected. We are still having trouble finding a place to meet that would have all that we would like such as internet access, computers and places to sit. I think we are just going to have to find a pub, bar or hotel that has an open WIFI network and places to sit. I have access to an overhead projector here at work that I can bring with me so I think we can make due with that in the meantime.

I know for a fact that the Sliver Tassie has on free WIFI network and they would not mind letting us meet there. Plus is we can have tea, pints and food as well.

If anyone knows of a better place to meet please let me know. If not I will set a date and notify everyone so we can have out next meeting.

MMUG Meeting : CONFIRMED

Our first official MMUG-Ireland meeting will take place on the Thursday the 23rd of November at 7 PM. It should last till 8 PM give or take. Anyone and everyone is invited but please sign up as a user here beforehand so we know how many people to expect.

Meeting Update

I have had some trouble confirming the room for our first meeting and the person I was going through has been replaced. This means we may have a few more delays until we can meet.

I have pushed the date back to the beginning of November and will keep you all posted here and via email.

Donegal Design Conference

The Donegal Design Conference will be held at the Radison SAS in Letterkenny. This event starts at 9:30 AM and will run till 1:30 PM.

The theme of the event will be “Why design is so important”. We take a look at why design is important for businesses at the beginning and not just at the end of development.
