Just an update from the Irish Web Technology Conference in Dublin.
The conference has been on all week long but I have only attended today’s events. The highlight of today’s events so far was a presentation from Andrew Shorten who works for Adobe and works on the Flex application team. His presentation today covered the basics of Flex. You can catch some of his presentations on his site but nothing is like being there in person.
I was able to spend some time with Andrew and asked loads of questions. He was really excited about the new upcoming launch of AIR and from what I could see it looks like Adobe is heading in the right direction. AIR allows developers to build applications with Rich content and animation but have it install as an application directly on the desktop. It’s sure exciting times at Adobe and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Compared to only 5 years ago when Adobe really only did graphics and illustration tools they are now taking on data management with tools like Flex and AIR. The best part about Adobe now developing data tools is that they make it all look so good and easy to use.
