Anyone interested in testing out the new beta version of Fireworks 9 should apply online and become a beta tester for Adobe. I am glad to hear that Fireworks is not being fazed out now that Adobe and Macromedia are one. I use Fireworks nearly every single day and love it. I would be very sad to see it get fazed out.
